Reading Development

Believing that reading is the doorway to education, the A.C.E. School of Tomorrow program offers several avenues by which children and adults can learn to read or increase their reading ability. Conclusive studies demonstrate that children and adults must learn phonics in order to read better and faster. A.C.E. incorporates the phonics method in all its reading courses. Please explore the A.C.E. reading development programs listed below and click on the name of the program for more information.

Young Learner Programs

Kindergarten with Ace and Christi This full-year program is designed for children ages K-3, K-4, and K-5 and for others as indicated by scores on the ABCs with Ace and Christi Pretest. Sixty PACEs (2,000 pages) filled with Bible and animal pictures, coordination development activities, and full-color picture stories encourage a child to want to read.

ABCs with Ace and Christi This Level 1 program is designed for those who have not been to school or who do not yet know how to read but have passed both parts of the Pretest. The lively and entertaining phonics-based program features cartoon characters, songs, poems, displays, and character-building activities.

It can be used alongside the Kindergarten with Ace and Christi program or as a standalone resource to instruct older students in the English language skills necessary to progress through the individualized PACE curriculum.

English As Your Second Language (ESL) This video/workbook course is designed for older students and adults who do not speak English as their first language. Geared for adult thinking and maturity, the program is self-paced and self-instructional, making it ideal for both individual use and small group review.

Reading Enhancement Programs

Bible Reading The A.C.E. Bible Reading curriculum reinforces reading skills with Scripture selections for Levels 2–6. (In Level 1, the instructor reads to the students.) Readings demonstrate Christian principles and complement character-building activities.

Readmaster This program challenges students to read better, faster, and with more confidence. Students are introduced to vocabulary words on their reading level, read engaging stories at an automated speed, and answer questions for comprehension. Readmaster is available through aceconnect Premium Access.

Videophonics This course is designed for English-speaking students ages 9 through adult, using free online videos and their corresponding workbooks. Videophonics includes the application of reading and writing skills. The combination of video with a time-tested phonics method makes learning to read easier.
